1.  Colocation Service Overview

The TBA Colocation Service provides our customers with secure space for their own Web server(s) and other related hardware within our Internet Data Centers (IDC’s).  The Colocation Service includes all of the necessary power and bandwidth services to support our customers’ Web applications.  Colocation customers retain total ownership and control over the operation and maintenance of their equipment.  Table 1 details the key elements of the Colocation Service.

This Colocation Service Description describes the colocation customer needs and target market segments,

explains the strategic fit of our colocation service within the overall strategy of TBA, and details the service offer, service order process, availability, limitations and business rules, competitive differentiation, and billing and pricing information.

2.  Customer Need and Target Market Segment

2.1 Customer Need

TBA’s Colocation Service is an ideal alternative for businesses that have invested capital in the hardware to support their Web application and have the in-house resources to manage and maintain their Web operations but choose not to or are unable to allocate resources toward building and operating their own Internet facility or data center.  Specifically, colocation customers require secure space and access within a secure and environmentally controlled facility, connectivity to a network backbone, available and scalable bandwidth and power, reliable network performance, and basic support services provided by on-site technicians.  Colocation customers also generally require N+1 power and network redundancy to maintain reliable performance and up-time for their Web application.

2.2 Target Market Segment

The TBA target customer is Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).  SMEs, as defined by the U.S. Department of Commerce, are businesses with less than 500 employees.  Small businesses, defined as companies with less than 100 employees, account for more than half of all spending on Web hosting services.  High-growth and a likelihood to outsource their Web hosting needs, characterize the entire SME horizontal market segment.  There is a wide array of SME vertical markets in need of our colocation service including Application Service Providers (ASPs), content distribution providers, e-commerce companies, entertainment companies, financial services providers, manufacturers, media companies, publishers, retailers, and independent software vendors.

Specific target SME colocation customers are those brick and mortar companies that have integrated the Web into the way they conduct business thus becoming so-called “click and mortar” operations.  Click and mortar companies generally have established brands and loyal customers in their given vertical market.  Finally, like the SMB horizontal, click and mortar companies are perhaps more likely to outsource to a hosting provider given that their core competency may not likely be centered on Web technology and applications.

Depending upon the nature of its application, our SME target colocation customer will spend between several hundred and several thousand dollars per month on colocation services.  Accordingly, the TBA Colocation Service provides customers with secure colocation space to house from one to two servers to dozens of servers and other related gear.  The key drivers of our customers’ colocation space needs and monthly spending include the hardware, bandwidth, and data storage needed to operate their Web application.

Lastly, the TBA Colocation target customer includes a fairly even mix of businesses switching from their current colocation service provider and those moving their internal Web operation to a colocation service provider facility.

3. Strategic Fit

Colocation Service is a fundamental product that supports the TBA strategy to provide SMEs a full–suite of hosting services.   According to a 2000 International Data Corp. (IDC) report, "Web-Hosting Services: Market Review and Forecast, 1998-2003”, the U.S. Web hosting services market is one of the fastest-growing markets in the Internet economy.   The market is estimated to grow to $18.9 billion by 2003.  The colocation segment of this market is expected to account for approximately $4 billion or 20% of the forecasted 2003 market.  Driving factors behind this growth include a relatively strong U.S. economy and similar growth in the information technology industry and the Internet in general.  Other growth factors in the Web hosting services market include the increasing importance of e-business strategies and the increasing complexity and costs of supporting Web applications internally.

TBA is very well positioned to succeed in the competitive colocation hosting market.  The company has a core competency in providing colocation services as demonstrated by the existing roster of hundreds of satisfied colocation customers, many of whom are brand name companies.  We also have a national footprint of world-class infrastructure of TBA IDCs.

4.    Colocation Service Offer

The TBA Colocation Service is comprised of the following feature-set:

·        Secure Cabinet or Cage Space

·        Internet Connectivity and Bandwidth

·        Dedicated and Battery Backup Power Feeds

·        Monitoring and Reporting Services

·        Support Services

·        Value-Added Services

·        Facility Security

·        Facility Environmental Controls

·        Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Each of the feature-set categories has standard components and configurations detailed below.

4.1 Secure Cabinet or Cage Space

Depending upon their requirements, customers may choose space in a locked cabinet or cage.

4.1.1 Cabinets

Colocation Cabinets are enclosed and scalable and provide front and rear access, front and rear key-locked doors, and dual ventilation fans.   Depending upon the hosting facility, cabinets stand 7’ or 8’ in height.  All cabinets have 19” wide by 36” deep internal dimensions.  Customers may order from one of three cabinet plans that best suits their space requirements and budget. See Table 2 below.

4.1.2 Cages

Cages are available for customers requiring large amounts of data center space to store their equipment.  Generally, customers with a lot of non-rack mountable equipment or that need more than three cabinets of space for their equipment require a colocation cage.  Cages are made of 12-gauge-wire mesh steel with ventilated screens and come equipped with a key-locked sliding access door.  Customers may order from one of three cage plans that best suits their space requirements and budget.  All colocation cages come equipped with a standard number of four-post open racks and are configured to comply with OSHA workspace standards.  Cabinets are available for customers that would prefer to store their equipment in cabinets within their colocation cage.  See Table 3 below.

Customers requiring more than 243 square feet of caged colocation space will be treated on an Individual Case Basis (ICB).  Customers are also responsible for providing all necessary mounting hardware (e.g. rails, bolts, etc.).

4.2 Internet Connectivity and Bandwidth

4.2.1 Internet Connectivity

All TBA colocation customers are provided with a 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet port connection from their colocation space to the hosting facility access layer switches.  Customer server(s) must be configurable with the appropriate interface(s) for the 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet connection.  Customers may opt to provision more than one machine on a 100 Mbps line.   Re
