Information Collection

NYC-Tech is the sole owner of the information collected on this website. Information collected is used to prepare T1, T3, DSL, or Colocation price quotes and service contracts; or, process credit information for customer purchases.  User(s) personal identifiable information is shared (depending on transaction) with NYC-Tech’s service provider or NYC-Tech’s credit card processing company.

 
Registered account members’ information is not shared – customers using computer store to purchase Linksys or Cisco products that signed-up to receive 5% discounts and promotional news-letter.

 

NYC-Tech receives quarterly and monthly promotional and sale information from manufacturers and service providers, which may be emailed to the customer as a newsletter.

NYC-Tech is an agent for IDT, New Edge Networks, AT&T, XO Communication, and Covad Communication. NYC-Tech is also a VAR “Value Added Reseller for Linksys and a register partner with Cisco Systems.

 

Registration

In order to use this web site, select the service or product you are interested in. For internet service, select the corresponding form and submit your list of requirements for processing.  For computer products, go to NYC-Tech/Computer Store .

 

During registration a customer gives contact information associated with [self] or their company such as: customer’s company, customer’s name, customer’s phone number, email address, address, credit information. We use this information to contact the customer, prepare quote and service agreements, or, to process credit card information for customer’s purchase. Our form does not state nor is it a policy of NYC-Tech to request demographic information (such as income level gender, or social security number), and unique identifiers (such as, username and password).

 

Orders

Information collected on form is used to process Customer’s list of requirements.  This information is used to prepare quotes and internet service contracts, or, credit card processing.

 

Information Use

In addition, the information collected maybe used to determine the level of telecommunication services required and for consultation session(s) between Customer and selected service provider(s) when necessary, and, to send promotional monthly newsletter to registered account members.

Profile

We store information that we collect either by cookies, log files, clear gifs, and/or third parties to create a profile of our visitors.  A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users that details their viewing preferences.  Collected information is not tied to the customer’s personally identifiable information. This profile is used to evaluate users activity while visiting NYC-Tech web site.  We do not share your profile with other third parties. Your profile is not shared together with your personal identifiable information.

 

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user.  Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site.  We use persistent and not session cookies.  For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates.  A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Third Party Advertising

The ads appearing on this Web site are NYC-Tech.com no third party ads are used on this site. Our service providers provide us with promotion materials for product sales campaign and authorize us to use their logo.  Other service providers provide link directly to their site for ordering products and services directly. All ads are created by NYC-Tech.com.

 

This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by NYC-Tech only and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers. 

 

Log Files

Like most standard Web site servers we use log files.  This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.  IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. We use a tracking utility called Urchin that uses log files to analyze user movement.

 

Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)

We do not employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective.  Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. The main difference between the two is that clear gifs are invisible on the page and are much smaller, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Clear gifs are not tied to users' personally identifiable information.

 

 

Communications from the Site

Special Offers and Updates

We do not send new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. Established members will occasionally receive information on products, services, special deals, and a newsletter. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see the Choice and Opt-out sections.

 

Newsletter

If a user wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name and email address.  Out of respect for our users privacy we provide a way to opt-out of these communications.  Please see the Choice and Opt-out sections.

 

Service Announcements

On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service related announcement.  For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance we might send users an email.  Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications, though they can deactivate their account.  However, these communications are not promotional in nature.  User may opt-out of these communications. Customer Service

We communicate with Customers on a regular basis to provide telecommunication services and in regards to issues relating to their account we reply via email or phone, in accordance with the customer wishes.

Though we make every effort to preserve customer privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.

We do not share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Third Party Intermediaries

We do no use an outside shipping company to ship orders, and a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

 

Service Providers

We partner with other third parties, service providers, to provide specific services for example: SAVVIS Communication and Covad Communication. When the customer signs up for these particular services, we share names, or other contact information personal identifiable information and service request information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services.  These third parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

 

Business Transitions

In the event another company goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquiring NYC-Tech, or selling a portion of its assets, users' personal information will, be part of the assets transferred.  Customers will be notified via prominent notice on our Web site for 30 days prior to a change of ownership or control of their personal information. If as a result of the business transition, the customers' personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection they will be given choice consistent with our notification of changes section.

 

Choice/Opt-out

Our customers are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information.  For example, our order form has an 'opt-out' mechanism so users who buy a product from us, but don't want any marketing material, can keep their email address off of our lists or wish to withdraw service request order from a particular service provider

 

Customers who no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by replying to unsubscribe in the subject line in the email or email us at admin@nyc-tech.com.

Surveys

From time-to-time we may requests information from customers via survey.  Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information.  The requested information typically includes the performance of their service provider. Customers' personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties unless we give prior notice and choice. Though we may use an intermediary to conduct these surveys or contests, they may not use customers' personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

 

Tell-A-Friend

If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend's name and email address.  NYC-Tech will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site.  NYC-Tech.com does store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email.  The friend may contact NYC-Tech at admin@nyc-tech.com to request the removal of this information from our database.

 

Security

This Web site takes every precaution to protect our customers' information. 

 

We do everything in our power to protect customer-information off-line.  All of our customers' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices.  Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information

Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information

If a customer's personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a customer no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate users' personally identifiable information. Email customer service at admin@nyc-tech.com to request an update on personal Identifiable information. 

 

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.  We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected. 

 

If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify customers via email. Customers will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner.  However, if a customer opts out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner.  In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that affects user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also email users, who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
